The Calibration measurement microphone was mainly developed as a tool for room analysis, e.g. for calibrating the auditorium in a theater or venue, for recording studios (control and recording room) and for acoustic analysis on stage. The small diaphragm condenser features an electret capsule with a 6 mm diameter. The polar pattern is omnidirectional. Therefore, it is equally sensitive for sound from all directions. Each microphone is separately calibrated to ensure a reliable measurement over the audible frequency range. The frequency response and sensitivity are specified in the supplied measurement protocol. In addition to acoustic room analysis, Calibration can also be used for special recording purposes: Thanks to high SPL capabilities up to 149 dB SPL, it can capture very loud audio sources without clipping.
