Kerotix is wax varnish in the form of paste for oil painting and tempera, which preserves and protects the painting with a matted soft layer. It is spread with a pad or with the palm of the hand after painting. Then, the painting is exposed to a certain period of time to sun or moderate heat to allow Kerotix be soaked in the pores of the painting. With its preservation effect it best protects the painting against harmful vapours and gases. It can also be advantageously used as so called painter´s butter without darkening this, and is an essential aid for restoration painters where it is used for mounting a painting on new-cloth as a perfect protection of the back of the painting, etc.
