The Stooges, also known as Iggy and the Stooges, were an influential American rock band formed in Ann Arbor, Michigan, in 1967 by Iggy Pop, Ron Asheton, Scott Asheton, and Dave Alexander. Known for their raw, aggressive sound and chaotic live shows, the band helped lay the groundwork for punk rock. Their early albums The Stooges and Fun House initially received little commercial success but later became cult classics. After several breakups and lineup changes, they reunited in 2003 and released their final album Ready to Die in 2013. The Stooges were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2010 and are celebrated as pioneers of the proto-punk movement.
