Tesla is an American hard rock band from Sacramento, California, formed in 1981 by bassist Brian Wheat and guitarist Frank Hannon. Originally called City Kidd, the band adopted the Tesla name before releasing their debut album, Mechanical Resonance, in 1986. The classic lineup was completed with Jeff Keith on vocals, Tommy Skeoch on guitar, and Troy Luccketta on drums. Tesla gained popularity in the late 1980s with hits like Modern Day Cowboy, Love Song, and a well-known cover of Signs. Known for blending melodic hooks with hard rock energy, they stood out during the hair metal era with their bluesy sound and acoustic performances. After a brief split in the late 1990s, Tesla reunited and has continued to tour and release new music, including the EP All About Love in 2024. The band has sold over 14 million albums in the United States.
