Richard Barbieri, born in 1957, is an English musician, composer, and sound designer. He first gained recognition as a member of the influential new wave band Japan and later returned with the group’s Rain Tree Crow project. In 1993, he joined progressive rock band Porcupine Tree as their keyboard player and, aside from Steven Wilson, is the band’s longest-serving member.
