Motion City Soundtrack is a rock band from Minneapolis, Minnesota, formed in 1997. Known for blending catchy pop-punk and emo influences with energetic Moog synthesizer melodies, the group features Justin Pierre on vocals and guitar, Joshua Cain on lead guitar, Jesse Johnson on keyboards, Matthew Taylor on bass, and Tony Thaxton on drums. Their lyrics, penned mostly by Pierre, often explore themes of anxiety and relationships. Gaining major attention with their 2005 album Commit This to Memory, they became a key act on the Warped Tour circuit. After releasing six studio albums—mainly through Epitaph Records—the band split in 2016 but reunited in 2019. Their latest album, The Same Old Wasted Wonderful World, is set for release in 2025.
