Japandroids were a Canadian rock duo from Vancouver, formed in 2006 by Brian King and David Prowse. Known for their energetic blend of classic rock and punk influences, Japandroids broke out with their debut album Post-Nothing in 2009. Their follow-up, Celebration Rock, earned widespread acclaim and recognition, with major touring that saw them play almost 500 shows in 44 countries between 2009 and 2013. Later albums, including Near to the Wild Heart of Life and their final release Fate and Alcohol in 2024, showcased both their anthemic sound and a growing sense of polish. Japandroids were celebrated for their raw, passionate live performances and their ability to channel the spirit of both rock and punk into something distinctly their own.
