Jack Bruce (1943–2014) was a celebrated Scottish musician best known as the lead vocalist and bassist of the rock band Cream. Before forming Cream in 1966 with Eric Clapton and Ginger Baker, he played in influential groups such as the Graham Bond Organisation and John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers. Bruce co-wrote many of Cream's iconic songs, including "Sunshine of Your Love" and "White Room," with lyricist Pete Brown. After Cream disbanded, he launched a long solo career and collaborated with numerous other artists, notably forming West, Bruce and Laing in the early 1970s. Widely regarded as one of the greatest bassists in rock history, Bruce was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993 and received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2006 as a member of Cream.
