Hellhammer was an extreme metal band from Nürensdorf, Switzerland, active from 1982 to 1984. Known for their raw and abrasive sound, they initially received harsh criticism but have since become recognized as a major influence on the development of black metal. After disbanding in 1984, two members went on to form the acclaimed band Celtic Frost.
