Della Mae is an American bluegrass band that originated in Boston in 2009, taking their name from the song Big Spike Hammer. Founded by musicians Kimber Ludiker, Amanda Kowalski, Grace Van’t Hof, and Avril Smith, the group quickly gained recognition for their dynamic sound. With the addition of vocalist Celia Woodsmith in 2011, Della Mae released their debut album I Built This Heart, followed by the critically acclaimed This World Oft Can Be, which earned a Grammy nomination in 2014. Known for their energetic performances and fresh approach to bluegrass, Della Mae has continued to evolve, releasing albums such as Della Mae in 2015 and Headlight in 2020.
