Bob Dylan

Bob Dylan

Bob Dylan, born Robert Allen Zimmerman in 1941 in Minnesota, is an American singer-songwriter recognized as one of the most influential figures in popular music. Over a career spanning more than sixty years, Dylan has sold around 125 million records worldwide. Rising to prominence in the early 1960s, he brought poetic depth and social commentary to folk music, and became a voice for civil rights and antiwar movements with iconic songs like Blowin in the Wind and The Times They Are a-Changin. In the mid-1960s, Dylan transformed rock music by incorporating electric instruments and complex lyrics, with groundbreaking works such as Highway 61 Revisited and Blonde on Blonde. After a temporary break from touring, he explored country, rock, and other genres, constantly reinventing his sound. Dylan has also published books of art and his life has inspired numerous films. Among many honors, he received the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2016 for his impact on American songwriting, as well as multiple Grammy Awards, an Academy Award, and the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Dylan continues to record and tour, remaining a defining figure in modern music and culture.
