As I Lay Dying is a metalcore band from San Diego, California, founded in 2000 by vocalist Tim Lambesis. Known for their aggressive yet melodic sound, the band gained major recognition with their 2007 album An Ocean Between Us, which reached high chart positions and established them as leaders in the metalcore scene. They have performed at major festivals around the world and received several awards and a Grammy nomination for their song Nothing Left. After a hiatus in 2014 due to Lambesis’s legal issues, the band reformed in 2018 and released Shaped by Fire in 2019, followed by lineup changes that left Lambesis as the sole member. As I Lay Dying released their eighth album, Through Storms Ahead, in November 2024.
