ACDC is an Australian rock band formed in Sydney in 1973 by brothers Angus and Malcolm Young. Known for their infectious hard rock sound, the band has also been associated with blues rock and heavy metal, but describe their music simply as rock and roll. Regarded as a major influence on countless rock and metal acts, ACDC has sold over 200 million records worldwide, making them one of the best-selling artists in history. The classic lineup featured Angus and Malcolm Young, drummer Phil Rudd, bassist Cliff Williams, and lead singer Bon Scott. After Scott's death in 1980, Brian Johnson took over as lead vocalist. Their first album with Johnson, Back in Black, became one of the highest-selling albums ever released. ACDC was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003. Despite various lineup changes and personal challenges, the band has continued to release successful albums and tour globally, remaining a powerful presence in rock music for over five decades.
