Yo La Tengo is an American indie rock band formed in Hoboken, New Jersey in 1984. The core trio of Ira Kaplan, Georgia Hubley, and James McNew has played together since 1992, creating a distinctive sound known for its blend of melodic songwriting and experimental touches. Original guitarist Dave Schramm rejoined the group in 2015 for their album Stuff Like That There. Although Yo La Tengo has remained largely outside the mainstream, they are highly regarded by critics and have built a dedicated cult following. Their live shows and recordings feature both original songs and an eclectic mix of covers.
