SOiL is an American alternative metal band formed in Chicago in 1997. The group broke into the mainstream with their 2001 debut album Scars after becoming the first rock act signed to J Records. Notable for tracks like Halo, SOiL followed up with Redefine in 2004 before frontman Ryan McCombs departed and later joined Drowning Pool. The band continued with new vocalist AJ Cavalier, releasing True Self and Picture Perfect and earning a reputation for energetic live shows and continued worldwide touring. In 2011, McCombs rejoined SOiL, and original members Tim King on bass and Adam Zadel on guitar remain core to the lineup. The band's later releases include Whole in 2013 and a greatest hits collection, Scream The Essentials, in 2017.
