Mastodon

Mastodon is an American heavy metal band from Atlanta, Georgia, formed in 2000. The group consists of Troy Sanders on bass and vocals, Bill Kelliher on rhythm guitar and backing vocals, Brann Dailor on drums and vocals, and until 2025, Brent Hinds on lead guitar and vocals. Known for their progressive and dynamic sound, Mastodon has released eight studio albums, beginning with the critically acclaimed Remission in 2002. Their second album, Leviathan, drew praise as a concept work inspired by the novel Moby-Dick and earned Album of the Year honors from leading music magazines in 2004. Mastodon has received several Grammy nominations, with songs like Colony of Birchmen, Curl of the Burl, and High Road all recognized by the Recording Academy. Their 2017 album, Emperor of Sand, marked a commercial peak, featuring the hit Show Yourself and winning the band its first Grammy for the single Sultan's Curse. The band’s diverse catalog includes ambitious releases such as Crack the Skye, The Hunter, and the recent Hushed and Grim from 2021. In 2024, they released the collaborative single Floods of Triton with Lamb of God. Renowned for their adventurous style and powerful live shows, Mastodon remains a leading force in modern metal music.
