Watain
Watain is a Swedish black metal band formed in 1998, known for their intense theistic Satanist stance and notoriously visceral live shows, often featuring pyrotechnics, rituals, animal carcasses, and blood. Their 2014 Brooklyn performance, during which they showered the audience with animal blood, provoked widespread controversy. The band's name is inspired by an early recording from the American group Von. Watain's core members are Erik Danielsson, Pelle Forsberg, and Håkan Jonsson, with Emil Svensson joining as live drummer in 2015. They have released seven studio albums, most recently The Agony and Ecstasy of Watain in 2022 through Nuclear Blast.
