Quincy Matthew Hanley, known as Schoolboy Q, is an American rapper and singer from California. He first gained attention with his mixtapes in 2008 and 2009 before joining Top Dawg Entertainment. His breakout came with the albums Setbacks and Habits and Contradictions, followed by his major label debut Oxymoron in 2014, which reached number one on the Billboard 200 and featured hit singles like Collard Greens with Kendrick Lamar. Schoolboy Q is also known for collaborations with artists such as Macklemore and Tinashe. His later albums, including Blank Face LP, Crash Talk, and Blue Lips, have received critical acclaim, with several peaking in the top three of the Billboard 200. As a member of the hip hop collective Black Hippy alongside Ab-Soul, Jay Rock, and Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q has received five Grammy nominations and is recognized for his dynamic contribution to modern hip hop.
