Gustav Elijah Åhr, known professionally as Lil Peep, was an American rapper and singer-songwriter recognized as a pioneer of the emo rap genre and a prominent member of the collective GothBoiClique. Born in 1996 in Allentown, Pennsylvania, and raised on Long Island, he began making music as Trap Goose before adopting the name Lil Peep, a childhood nickname. Lil Peep gained early fame on SoundCloud, particularly with his single Star Shopping and a string of mixtapes released in 2015, including Lil Peep Part One and Live Forever. His acclaimed projects Crybaby and Hellboy followed in 2016, cementing his influence in blending emo, trap, and alternative rock. After his first live show in 2016, he quickly grew an international fanbase, touring Europe, Russia, and the United States. In 2017, he released his debut studio album, Come Over When You’re Sober Pt. 1, marking a shift toward pop punk and rap rock. Tragically, Lil Peep died in November 2017 at the age of 21 due to an accidental overdose while on tour. Posthumous releases, including his second album and the documentary Everybody’s Everything, further highlighted his enduring impact on alternative youth culture and modern music, with many regarding him as a defining figure of his generation.
