Happy Mondays are a rock band from Salford, England, formed in 1980. Led by brothers Shaun and Paul Ryder, the group also included Gaz Whelan, Paul Davis, and Mark Day, with Bez later joining as dancer and maraca player. In 1990, Rowetta contributed as a second vocalist. Signed to Factory Records, they played a key role in shaping the Madchester sound by blending alternative rock with influences from funk, house, and psychedelia. They reached their peak with albums like Bummed and Pills n Thrills and Bellyaches, the latter reaching platinum status in the UK. Although they broke up in 1993, Happy Mondays have reunited several times, releasing new music including Uncle Dysfunktional in 2007.
