Funkadelic was an influential American funk rock band from Plainfield, New Jersey, active from 1968 to 1982. As a key part of George Clinton's P-Funk collective, the group helped shape the sound and culture of 1970s funk. Originally serving as the backing band for the Parliaments, Funkadelic developed a distinctive style that blended deep funk grooves with psychedelic rock.
