Ancient World: Instruments of Antiquity

Big Fish Audio and Funk/Soul Productions proudly present Ancient World: Instruments of Antiquity, an extraordinary exploration into the origins of musical sound. This collection features an extensive sampling of the most significant instruments from antiquity, captured for the first time.

At the heart of Ancient World lies the remarkable collection of ancient Greek instruments curated by Master Luthier Nikolaos Brass. With a lifelong dedication to researching and recreating these historical instruments, Brass employs traditional methods and materials that echo the craftsmanship of ages past. Among the collection are rare instruments like the Syntonon and Copperphone, with only a handful existing worldwide.

This multi-sampled library offers a rich variety of string, wind, and percussion instruments, each meticulously recorded to capture their unique performance techniques. For example, the string instruments feature articulations such as plucked, vibrato, harmonics, plectrum, tremolo, arpeggios, glissandos, and more, with some notes recorded with up to thirty samples.

Ancient World includes:

• Eleven string instruments
• Eight wind instruments
• Thirteen percussion instruments

Additionally, many instruments come with inspiring looped performances, enhancing the creative possibilities for composers.

To broaden its geographical and historical scope, the collection also features rare instruments from Medieval times, the Mediterranean basin, and the Middle East.

This library is an essential resource for composers working in film, television, and video games.
